Rae, Scott.  Moral Choices: An Introduction to Ethics. (Third Edition) Grand Rapids MI: Zondervan, 2009.

Since spiritual formation and ethics are closely related, we wanted to recommend this book because of its emphasis on integrating a Christian world-view with the academic discipline of ethics.  And since important aspects of ethics (especially virtue ethics) are about the kind of person we are becoming and the kind of life we are living, what Rae has to say is important to the formation of our character, which is strongly relevant to our spiritual formation.
